In the spirit of the holidays, and as a way to give back to those that serve, Walmart partnered with the Kansas National Guard Foundation to host three events in Kansas to fill bags of food for military families. The "Tai Chi Figure" on the Green Hall lawn is said to represent the strength, balance and power of the law. Some have also described him as "The Surfing Judge." That characterization inspired our 2013 holiday greeting, which transplants the bronze sculpture to an even more famous University of Kansas landmark for some winter fun. Enjoy!

A metro woman got a helping hand from police this holiday season. An 82-year-old retired dispatcher needed a some help this holiday, and the Kansas City Police Department stepped up to help. They were able to get hundreds of dollars’ worth of gifts and dinner for her for Christmas. But, the big surprise was a new mattress that she desperately needed.
On December 23, the Kansas City Chiefs quarterbacks Alex Smith, Aaron Murray, Chase Daniel and Tyler Bray teamed up to spread holiday cheer to children in our pediatric unit. The players presented gift bags and autographed footballs to our young patients and their families to brighten their spirits for the holidays. Here, Smith shares how visits like these are special to him.
